Wow, I cannot believe there are not bunches of singles chatting in the blog. I cannot believe how awesome the http://www.singlesinmotion.com site is for singles. It’s got topics from relationships to speed dating to singles tours and much, much more. And the best…it’s free! Nothing is free anymore! Maybe they sell SOMETHING, but I haven’t found anywhere on the site that requires a credit card. They do have advertisers, that must be where they make enough to support the site. Cool anyway. I could spend days in there, learning and meeting new friends! Anyway, email me back if you are interested in activites in Utah. I am connected to all the lists of single social activities!

    Keep smiling!
    Liz

I have found this site refreshing compared to most. I have had my share of searching the web for singles sites and activities but most sites that I come across are well, garbage. I am not the type that like just chatting away on the internet I enjoy meeting new people and having fun. Thats what I like about this site, it keeps me informed about everything. I would like to ad that there is some upcoming singles events in the Utah area that I will be joining in and I thought that I would let everyone here know about it incase they were interested. For starters I am going to check out the Midsummer’s night dream production and wine party, I am not much of a drinker but it sounds like good fun. Incase anyone wants to join in it will be held in Salt Lake on 2/23/08 at the patterson room, its only $29.00 for wine, appetizers and your ticket for the production. What a steal? I have also went to a lot of the singles events that I have found here on singlesinmotion and have had a blast! Thank you admin for putting up great information for us lonely singles, you make being single more fun!

    Have a blessed day everyone

Thanks for the post Maggy22 that sounds like fun. A couple of my friends are flying in for the weekend and we were looking for some different types of things to do and this sounds like it would be great and I happen to love Shakespeare, we hope to see you there!

  5. gothick4ever said,

I love wine especially red, I just am not much of a person who likes going to events alone. I live in Salt Lake, would it be too much to ask romaneyez if I could meet you and your friends there so I wouldn’t look like I’m a loner? I know I can be terribly insecure at times but I am working on it. Let me know if I could be of some company to your company.

  6. maggy22 said,

No problem romaneyez, I like your screen name too. LOL! I just figured that there had to be some people on here like me who like to get out and about to meet people. At least that way you can see them in person and not have to fear what they really look like. I have been scared before of men I have chatted with online and you see their picture but after you meet them you realize its not even the same person. lol I know last time that happend I was thinking “what a warewolf?” LOL!

  7. hbeauty said,

LOL @ maggy, I had that same problem about a week ago. I was chatting with a man that I met online and then we decided to meet in person and omg I wanted to throw up he was so ugly, the picture he showed me online was definately not his own. I had to fake sick so I could leave. LOL, oh well a day in the life of single woman I guess. Although I have met a few men on here who were very charming and we are still good friends.

I just attented a two different singles events that I saw on this site and I had so much fun. I met quite a few other singles in my area and I have to say I am grateful to make some new friends. I just moved here 6 months ago and I have not had much of an outside life because I didn’t know anyone here. The people I met are all really nice we are brainstorming on some ideas for a gathering of our own, so keep an eye out for me I will be mentioning our gathering soon. I hope you all come because if it turns out like the one I went to you will all have a wonderful time.

  9. coldncute said,

Can’t wait to hear the plan hottootrot, I would love to be a part of it. I’m not sure of your age but maybe you could arrange something for the 40′s and 50′s crowd, being a middle aged single I find it a bit more difficult to meet men since it seems most of them are out to meet the gals in their 20′s. I would love to be able to attend an event where I can meet some single men in my age range who are looking for the mature woman.

Have you seen the BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR No Country for Old Men! I went with a cool singles group called SLAG that is based in SLC. I think you can find them online. But anyway, we went to see this movie screening and what a waste of precious time. I mean all it was was this guys who killed every person he saw. There was no moral, no love story, no reason to even spend time looking at the screen other than SUSPENSE. And the killer gets away in the end. It is senseless! I am shocked an disgusted that the literary judges would ever consider a movie of such low caliber to be the best movie of the year. What has this country come too?

Men like this stuff, that’s why it won!

  12. Julianne said,

Not all men I’m sure! The kind of men that like movies with pure gore are the sorto f men who get us into wars. They have no feelings. And if we American’s keep watching stuff like No County for Old Men, and letting our children watch it, we are doomed as a nation. I agree, that was a worthless movie, an embarrassment to our nation.

SLC activities for singles abound. We have skiing, movie nights, temple nights, scating – you name it. I came here from Colorado and this is really a neat city, a great little downtown area, lots of fine dining, nice clubs, I really am pleased I moved here. Great schools for my children. Maybe I’ll turn Mormon. Nice people!

  14. Charles said,

What I would like to know is where are the activities listed?

  15. Marilyn said,

You can find all singles activities posted for all states, in fact, all nations, at this address. Now you have to realize that this is anew site and it takes people posting singles activities to make it work. So if you don’t find an activity, post one. In fact, it would help all of us if you would send out a link to this site to all the singles people or groups you know, so we can get more participation.

Slag hosts a lot of singles events in the Salt Lake City area. We have flights, movie nights, opera nights, pizza parties, library lectures, ballet groups, etc. We even get together for hot spring trips and the like. Anyone wishing to join us just needs to drop a line to “Chief SLAGger” and ask to be put on the mailing list. You’ll get emails about activities all the time.

    Hi Craig,
I think it is important to check out the event details before spending the gas money to go to any activities on the internet. If there isn’t a contact email or phone number, I’d say forget it. You could call the “location” and see if anything is going on there. I went to one at the beach and never could find the purported singles group. Of course, I was looking for a “group” not 3 people. Get all the info first, that’s my advice.

  28. STOP CHINESE said,

OK, I know this is a little off the subject of singles stuff, but really we need to be aware of things going on in the world. It is amazing to me that our government cherry picks what nations to defend. Millions of people have been annilated in Sudan, just like the Holocaust. We stand back and let it happen but we go into Iraq???????????? Spend millions of dollars, probably billions, loose our youth, but we can’t defend innocent people whose government is starving them to death or just slaughtering them outright? What is wrong with this movie?

In Tibet, the Chinese are starving out the Tibetans and then killing them if they try to escape over the mountians to India. The STOLE Tibet from the Tibetans, not they are depleting the resources of the region, moving in thousands of Han Chinese, giving the Chinese all the jobs (cause you have to speak Chinese to get a job), the Tibetans are living in tent cities, hundreds of mothers have had to sneak their children over the border to India to get them an education (cause the Chinese are charging $300 a year for a kid to go to school, more than any Tibetan’s annual income. By starving out the adults the Chinese are leaving hundreds of desparate orphans out in the cold to stave to death. And WE ARE SUPPORTING THE CHINESE BY BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS, WE ARE SUPPORTING THEIR INHUMANITY WITH OUR DOLLARS!

And the Chinese are nervy enough to blame the Dalai Lama for the unrest of the people! This just happened this week!

Let’s STOP buying Chinese products! And boycott the OLympics! We cannot continue to support man’s inhumanity to man with our dollars!

Report: Two dead as Tibet protests turn violent
China blames Dalai Lama as police fire on crowds in Lhasa led by monks
BEIJING – Protests led by Buddhist monks against Chinese rule in Tibet turned violent Friday, with shops and vehicles torched and gunshots echoing in the streets of the ancient capital, Lhasa.
A radio report said two people had been killed, while China blamed the disturbances on followers of the Dalai Lama, Tibet’s exiled Buddhist leader.
The Dalai Lama on Friday called the demonstrations “a manifestation of the deep-rooted resentment of the Tibetan people” and called upon China to stop using force during protests. In a statement, the Dalai Lama said he was “deeply concerned over the situation that has been developing in Tibet following peaceful protests.”
The largest demonstrations in nearly two decades against Beijing’s 57-year-rule over Tibet come at a critically sensitive time for China as it attempts to portray a unified and prosperous nation ahead of the Olympic Games in August.
U.S. government-funded Radio Free Asia said troops using both live ammunition and tear gas fired on crowds torching vehicles and Chinese-owned shops in the center of the ancient capital of Lhasa. It said two people were killed, while other reports put the death toll higher but gave no figures.
The U.S. State Department urged Chinese leaders to engage in dialogue with the Dalai Lama. The European Union also called on China to show restraint.
The protests that began on Monday’s anniversary of a 1959 uprising against Chinese rule were initially led by hundreds of Buddhist monks — but then attracted large numbers of ordinary Tibetans. They were also spreading to Tibetan areas outside Lhasa, a city of about 250,000 permanent residents, not including large numbers of soldiers and members of the paramilitary People’s Armed Police.
Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing vehicles in flames in the city’s main Barkor shopping district in the center of Lhasa. Crowds hurled rocks at security forces and at restaurant and hotel windows.
    ‘Chaos everywhere’
“It was chaos everywhere. I could see fires, smoke, cars and motorcycles burning,” said a Tibetan guide who spoke on condition his name not be used, fearing retaliation by authorities. He said the whole road in the main Barkor shopping area surrounding the Jokhang temple “seemed to be on fire.”
The guide said armed police in riot gear backed by armored vehicles were blocking major intersections in the city center, along with the broad square in front of the Potala, the former winter home of the Dalai Lama.
“As I approached Potala Square, I heard cannon fire, louder than rifles. Others told me police were firing tear gas along Beijing Zhonglu, west of the Potala,” he said. Up to 400 protesters, including students, had gathered around a market near the Jokhang temple early on Friday and were confronted by about 1,000 police, according to a witness cited by Matt Whitticase of the Free Tibet Campaign in London.

Four police were injured, and another protest break out near the Potala Palace, Whitticase added.
Shops were set on fire along two main streets surrounding the Jokhang temple, Ramoche monastery, and the city’s main Chomsigkang market, sending out heavy smoke.
A Western traveler using the name “John” told BBC World television that police had attacked monks near monasteries and said he saw military convoys moving into Lhasa carrying heavily armed troops.
In a terse report, China’s official Xinhua News Agency said people had been hospitalized with injuries and vehicles and shops torched, but gave few details.

Tensions in the Tibetan capital have risen in recent days as the city’s three biggest monasteries were sealed off by thousands of soldiers and police in a government crackdown, the U.S. government-funded Radio Free Asia reported Friday.
The U.S. Embassy e-mailed an advisory to Americans warning them to stay away from Lhasa. The embassy said it had “received firsthand reports from American citizens in the city who report gunfire and other indications of violence.”
In Washington, White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said, “Beijing needs to respect Tibetan culture. Needs to respect multi-ethnicity in their society. We regret the tensions between the ethnic groups and Beijing. The president has said consistently that Beijing needs to have a dialogue with the Dalai Lama.”
European Union leaders appealed to China to show restraint, and France’s foreign minister said Paris was keeping its options open on whether to take further measures, possibly relating to the Olympics.

I support STOP CHINESE. How long are Americans going to stand by and allow the Chinese to get away with theft???????? They steal Tibet and tell the world it used to be theirs and we all just say, OK, send us over some more cheap products. We are stupid, selfish, unknowledgeable, brain washed citizens of a country who only supports wars that can pad their personal agendas. YES, STOP BUYING ANYTHING THAT SAYS MADE IN CHINA!

  30. Deard said,

They killed a nun trying to escape last month. When they invaded they made children kill their own parents. The Chinese government are barbarians! They kill their own on top of everything else! Now that we made them so rich they really have the power they always wanted. I wouldn’t be surprised if they invaded other neighboring countries to take over all of Asia. You cannot trust them!

There is no risk for you. When you come to understand the true nature of Well-being in which you have come forth–then you can relax and begin to enjoy this magnificent adventure which is your creative life experience. We are not here to guide the specifics of that which you choose. You get to choose that, and you can’t get it wrong. We are here to assist you–only to assist you–in finding vibrational harmony with your desire; knowing that when you find vibrational harmony with your desire, you are, in this moment, a joyful Being. And that is our dominant wish for you

If everyone could get this selfish consciousness where they ask and expect to receive, everyone would tap into the Energy Stream and thrive. But your not knowing it won’t help them know it. Pretending it isn’t important to you to ask your questions won’t help them get answers to questions they’re not asking

It is our quest to establish a feeling of love, unity, support and fellowship as we strive to sustain, encourage, rebuild and provide another family for people who find themselves single for whatever reason. The goal of this group is to provide a safe haven for single adults who are searching for a place to stimulate their minds, and with the love of our Savior, comfort their hearts and enrich their souls. We steadfastly promote LDS standards and ideals as we encourage fellowship, spirituality, laughter, wholesome activities, and learning as a way to help people heal from the wounds of the past and prepare for a glorious future. We welcome single men and women ages 40 and older wishing to join us in a spirit of love, goodwill and peace.
