How many times have you met someone online and thought their photo and profile were perfect – and when you finally met, after hours of telephone conversations, all the excitement went south due to lack of chemistry on one side or the other or both? You can spend hundreds of dollars on joining online dating services, but the computer will never be able to guarantee chemistry. SLAG Bulletin: Monsoon Thai Wine Dinner‏

All right, all of you who appreciate a nice meal and some good wine—the Fine Dining Series is back up and running!
Last year, we visited such spots as the Metropolitan, Takashi, and Cucina Toscana. All were terrific meals and great banter! This time, I want to kick things off at Monsoon Thai, a nice Thai restaurant on Foothill Drive (in the same strip mall where Bombay House used to be). Monsoon Thai has been hosting a series of wine dinners. Their next dinner is scheduled for Sunday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm. You can find more details at:
http://www.monsoonthai.com/WineDinners/WineDinner20080323.htm
You have an option to partake in the meal alone, or to pair it with some good wines, at a very reasonable cost. Monsoon Thai is well known for their extensive and excellent wine list.
I’ve found that smaller groups work better for these events, so I’ll be limiting this group to the first 5 that respond. Please let me know no later than Wednesday night if you would like to join our group. You can RSVP by e-mail (SheriffL@hotmail.com) or give me a call (694-1099).
Salut!

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. As singles, we know the difficulties and challenges of being single parents. Perhaps you work in the medical field or know of neighbors or friends who have been victims of this terrible crime.
The Utah Valley Family Support and Treatment Center is hosting it’s 6th Annual Gala to raise funds for the center to fight this cause. UVFSTC provides the community with a wide range of services in counseling, adult and child therapy, parenting classes, school presentations and much more.
We would like to cordially invite all singles who have an interest to support this cause or who like to know more about the center or it’s volunteering services to attend this event. Jared Osmond (nephew of Donny and Marie) who will be a speaker at the Orem Utah LDS Annual Singles Conference this June, will be performing, along with other members of his musical family! It will be a wonderful evening of entertianment, silent auction and superb dinning!
It will be held on May 5th in the Grand Ballroom of the Provo Marriott Hotel.
Go here: http://uvfsc.org/fund-raising-event-2008 For information to attend this event.
The cost is $100 per person, ( tax deductible) with all proceeds going to the Center.
Please spread the word around to all your single friends

“Showtime Utah”, Cozy 106 FM and “Cliphanger”
present an evening with John Canaan
John Canaan (pronounced “Can Ann come out to play?) is best known for What If I Loved You?, an 80′s Utah/Idaho area #1 hit song. John’s CDs range from original love songs to inspirational classics. He is the original voice of the You’re Not Alone recording by Michael McLean, which went out to several million people throughout the world.
If you live in Utah you may also know John’s voice from a number of local productions. He is the male vocalist on the Together Forever video. He is the voice ofHis Love and Let Him Heal Your Heart on EFY’s greatest hits. He also sings Come Unto Him from the “New Testament Media” and has done many other inspirational recordings such as The Carpenter’s Son on Senator Orin Hatch’s and Janice Kapp-Perry’s Album Like A River.
John’s concert presentations currently feature music from his forthcoming CD The Way You Look Tonight (a collection of standards and favorites), and If Not Love (a collection of original “life and love” songs).
John’s concerts are like a musical journey through life and relationships. He instills a sense of perspective and humor into the hearts of his listeners– a desire to keep loving those that need our love the most, to count our blessings, to “touch every page as it’s turning”, or, as Lloyd Jenkins Jones put it, to “thank the Lord for letting us have the ride.”

http://www.ldslivingonline.com/article.php?articleId=50678 Emma Smith: My Story Shannon Johnson04/08/2008 04:12 PM MDT Emma Smith: My Story, opens in Utah theaters this Friday, and captures the events of Emma?s life that created the elect lady so important to LDS history. ?I wished to give something small back to Emma and Joseph,? says Katherine Nelson of her role as Emma. ?I felt like I was putting my whole soul out there to do my very best for a good friend.? Nelson described her experience as limited, yet after her time acting in Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration in 2005, she could not pass up the offer to play Emma a second time. So many strong friendships were formed that when Nelson discovered the same people would be involved in ?Emma,? she jumped at the opportunity to be part of another wonderful experience. ?At first it was frightening to be doing something I felt was so important, but it was also so incredible,? Nelson says. ?It was a way to grow closer to the Savior. This was an opportunity to recreate something that could speak to so many.? Three years ago, long after Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration was over, after cameras had stopped rolling and the actors were gone, writer and director Gary H. Cook had a strong feeling that something was not complete. Cook says he heard Boyd K. Packer give an invocation at the 200th birthday broadcast for Joseph Smith, and he finally knew what he wanted to do. A year later, a proposal to the First Presidency was approved, expenses were paid through private donations, and filming began. The finished film premiered March 18, 2008. ?My job as the director is to bring together the right people,? says Cook. ?People with vision and passion for their work, to share my vision with them, and then do everything I can to help them do their job. I want all of them?the cast, the crew, everyone?to share their ideas and to feel at the end of the day that this is really their film, all of us together.? And the result is a work that remembers and honors Emma Hale Smith. The film begins as Emma?s adopted daughter Julia Murdock Smith, returns home to Nauvoo as a widow in 1877. ?Mine has been no easy life,? Julia wrote after her second marriage. The relationship between mother and daughter is evident as Emma offers words of encouragement to Julia, teaching the importance of faith and reflecting on her own hardships.
